Hampton Bookkeeping

About

Bookkeeping, run by someone who actually checks the columns.

I'm Dennis Brown — a certified bookkeeper based in Hampton, Virginia, helping restaurants, small hotels, salons, and local businesses across Hampton Roads keep their books accurate without taking over their week.

My approach

Clear numbers, no jargon, no surprises.

I got into bookkeeping for the moment a business owner sees their numbers laid out clean — not just accurate, but understandable. That's the job as I see it: keep the books right, and make sure you actually know what they're telling you.

I keep a deliberately small client list, so you get direct access to me — not a rotating support queue — and books reconciled on the same schedule every single month.

Before bookkeeping

Years of running the P&L, not just reading it.

I've spent 10+ years running businesses, managing budgets, analyzing P&Ls, handling payroll and financial reporting, and now I've formally trained in bookkeeping and QuickBooks.

Most of that decade was as a hotel General Manager — owning budgets, payroll, AP/AR, and financial reporting for properties with millions in annual revenue. That's the discipline I bring to your books.

GM

Full P&L Ownership

Managed operating budgets, forecasts, and monthly financial reporting for hotel properties, with direct accountability for hitting revenue and expense targets.

$137K+

Results-Driven

Surpassed revenue targets by $137K and gross operating profit by $129K in a single year, with a 93% flow-through rate — real numbers, not estimates.

AP/AR

Hands-On Financial Ops

Managed payroll, accounts payable/receivable, aging reports, and financial reconciliation directly — the same fundamentals your books need every month.

Who I work with

Businesses that run on tight margins and tighter schedules.

Having managed hotel P&Ls for over a decade, I understand hospitality and service businesses from the inside — where the money actually moves, and where it quietly gets missed.

01

Restaurants & food service

Daily sales, tips, vendor bills, and food cost tracked cleanly, month after month.

02

Small hotels & hospitality

Occupancy-driven revenue, seasonal cash flow, and multi-line expenses reconciled the way a GM would want them.

03

Salons & spas

Service revenue, retail sales, and day-to-day expenses kept straight without slowing down your front desk.

04

Small business & retail

The core fundamentals — reconciled accounts and financials you can actually read — for any small operation that needs real books.
